Three subfamilies of Bot and Warble Flies (41 NA spp) occur in Minnesota.
The Gasterophilinae are parasitic in the intestinal tract of horses.
The Oestrinae are endoparasites of sheep and cattle. The Cuterebrinae
are subcutaneous parasites of rabbits and rodents. A few adults of Cuterebra
spp have been collected afield, but it is not uncommon to find larvae
of this bot fly in snap-trapped mice (esp. Peromyscus).
