Only a single species of Stalk-eyed Fly occurs in North America. This family of grotesque flies is much more numerous in the tropics. Sphyracephala brevicornis appears associated with Skunk Cabbage in swampy environs, and it sometimes found overwintering under bridges. Only a couple of specimens collected.
