The Monarch, Danaus plexippus,
breeds on milkweeds (Asclepias syriaca, A. tuberosa, A.
incarnata). It is routinely seen in a number of old fields, but is
more common in the fall when migrant adults are seen abundantly feeding
at Liatris aspera (Blazing Star). Only 4 NA species in this
small Family.
