Sulphurs and Whites (63 NA spp; 10 MN spp) are abundant at CCNHA.
The Olympia, Euchloe olympia
(Arabis divaricarpa) occurs in most Old Fields in early summer (May).
Common Sulphurs are the Alfalfa Butterfly, Colias
eurytheme (Trifolium) and the Common Sulphur, Colias
philodice (Medicago). The Dainty Sulphur, Nathalis
iole (chickweed) is an occasional visitant. Common Whites (formerly
Pieris
spp) include the European Cabbage Butterfly, Artogeia
rapae (Cruciferae); the Mustard White,
Artogeia
napi (Berteroa); and the Checkered White, Pontia
protodice (Cruciferae).
**The Pink-edged Sulphur,
Colias interior (Vaccinium);
the Little Sulphur, Eurema lisa;
and the Dog Face, Colias cesonia
(Amorpha+) have been collected nearby and may eventually be taken
here.
