The Ghost Moths and Swifts (20 NA spp) are large moths (Hepialis wingspan 25-50 cm; Sthenopis wingspan 50-75cm) that resemble Sphingids. The larva of S. argenteomaculatus bores in the roots of alder, and that of S. thule bores into willow roots.
