Giant Casemaker Caddisfly larvae (26 NA spp; 14 MN spp) make spirally arranged tubes of plant material and live in quiet waters of ponds and lakes. Minnesota genera--Agrypnia(5), Banksiola(4), Fabria(1), Haganella(1), Oligostomis(1), Ptilostomis(2).

Species collected at CCNHA include: Agrypnia 2+ spp (improba, vestita), Fabria inornata, Ptilostomis ocellifera and Banksiola crotchi.  Banksiola is a very common pond/marsh species with spirally arranged vegetable case.
