Proctotrupids (46 NA spp) are small (3-8 mm) with petiolate waist and pointed
abdomen and have a small marginal cell beyond the large stigma in the forewing.
Many are parasites of soil-inhabiting beetle grubs (carabids, staphylinids,
elaterids). Perhaps eight species in the genera
Proctotrupes,
Exallonyx
and
Cryptoserphus have
been collected at Cedar Creek.
