These small species (1-3 mm) have 4-segmented tarsi and are diverse (507
NA spp). They are parasites of a wide variety of hosts including Lepidoptera
larvae, some Diptera larvae, some are egg parasites, and some are Hyperparasites.
A large species attacks the pupae of Neochlamisus (COL: Chrysomelidae)
on leatherleaf at Beckman Lake Bog. Perhaps 20 species have been swept
from CCNHA old fields--the most abundant being
Tetrastichus
spp. Species of Elasmus
are wedge-shaped and resemble Mordellid Beetles. Others have been assigned
only MORPHO names.
