Common Sawflies (731 NA spp) with 9-segmented antennae contain the most species in this Suborder. Most occur in woodlands where they feed on the foliage of various plants. Numerous Subfamilies and Tribes are recognized. The Collection contains much undetermined material. Tentative ID's for Cedar Creek genera include: Allantus, Ametastegia, Aneugmenus (ferns), Anoplonyx (tamarack), Aphilocyctium, Blennocampa (aspen), Caliroa, Dolerus spp (grasses/sedges), Euura (willow leaf galls), Fenusa (birch), Hemitaxonus (ferns), Hoplocampa (juneberry), Loderus (grasses/sedges), Macremphytis, Macrophya, Messa, Metallus (Rubus leafminer), Menatus, Paracharactus (sedges), Periclista (bur oak), Phrontosoma, Phyllotoma (alder), Phymatocera (Smilacina), Platycampus, Pontania (willow stem galls), Pristiphora spp, Rhogogaster, Strongylogaster (ferns), Taxonus (Rubus), Tenthredo seven spp, Tethida and Tomostethus (ash), and Trichiocampus.
