Little attention has been given to this family of wood borers (481 NA spp, 68 MN spp). Many species are of economic concern, attacking valuable timber.  Perhaps 8 species in the genera Hylurgops, Dendroctonus, Ips, Polygraphus?, Xyloterinus?, Trypodendron and Monarthrum have been collected.  A few Undet specimens also in the collection.
