Family PYROCHROIDAE

(Fire-colored Beetles)

Two uncommon species of Fire-colored Beetles (15 NA spp) are Pyrochroa flabellata and Schizotus cervicalis. Adults are found on flowers and foliage; larvae occur under bark of dead trees.  Four species of Dendroides also occur in Minnesota.  Representatives of this genus not yet collected at Cedar Creek.
