The larvae of Marsh Beetles (37 NA spp) are aquatic. Adults generally occur
on vegetation in damp situations. Species of Cyphon
(3+ spp--incl
variabilis) are fairly common. Cyphon
variabilis has been collected in modest numbers from a variety
of fields. Scirtes tibialis
is a common black species with enlarged hind femora occuring on vegetation
at marsh edges.
