No survey work has been done on Scale Insects. Species of gall-like Kermes
(Family Kermesidae) are conspicuous on hazel and oaks as well as some other
woody plants. Diaspid-like scales from pines? A pink dude was D-vacced
from field C. My understanding is that many Scale Insects are root feeders
requiring specialized collecting techniques.
