Shore Bugs (76 NA spp, 13 MN spp) occur along the banks of lakes, creek,
ponds and marshes during periods of low water. They are conspicuous but
very difficult to capture because of their wariness and speed. Some collectors
shoot them with alcohol from a spritz-bottle to slow them down. Species
collected include:
Lampracanthia
crassicornis (Cedar Bog Lake, Beckman Lake),
Micracanthia
humilis (Fish Lake), two species of Salda--
S.
lugubris (Fish Lake),
S. provancheri (Cedar Bog Lake),
and at least two species of Saldula
(pallipes,
saltatoria,
opacula?,
ablusa?)
from lake, pond, creek and marsh edges.
