(Water Striders)
The Water Striders (45 NA spp) are predators that skim along the surface
film of ponds and marshes on their long legs. At least three species of
Gerris
(buenoi, comatus, remigis, ?insperatus)
have been collected. The large dark brown Limnoporus
dissortis is also quite common. Trepobates
subnitidus occurs on Cedar Bog Lake.
Metrobates hesperius has
been collected from the Rum River, ca. 5 miles west of Cedar Creek.
