Ambush Bugs (22 NA spp) are a small family of predaceous forms. Phymata pennsylvanica?, the common yellow and brown Ambush Bug, is infrequently collected in sweeping, but is conspicuous on weedy Asteraceae in a variety of fields. Phymata ?wolfii is a rare early season species collected in prairie. Members of this family are predaceous on other insects as are the Assassin Bugs discussed next.
