Asteraceae. Forb. Leaves alternate. Leaves on stalk are long and narrow with serrations. Basal leaves are spade shaped with a distinct petiole. Basal leaves have a branchy venation and are usually rough with no serrations. Rosettes are similar to basal leaves. Flowerhead is large and branching with many pale purple daisylike flowers with a yellow center. Similar species: Solidago rigida basal leaves, Aster simplex and Aster eracoides. Solidago rigida has more oval leaves with round serrations and soft pubescence. Aster simplex and A. eracoides have white flowers. Aster simplex basal leaves are longer and more linear. Aster eracoides are shorter and linear. Found in E120 and E123. |
