Inflorescence is on a single long stalk and is tight and cylinder-shaped. Flowers are white. Seed are cottony. Similar species: confused with Viola pedatifida leaves. V. pedatifida is deeply lobed, does not have three distinct leaves and is not whorled. V. pedatifida does not have three leaflets. V. pedatifida's lobes are rounded as opposed to pointed.
