Aristida basiramea

Poaceae. Grass. Ligule is a short ring of hairs. Stem and leaves are sparsely hairy. Hairs are long, flimsy and wispy. Occasionally has hooked bards along leaf margin- see stereoscope. Stalk and leaves are very thin. Usually it is a short plant. Inflorescence contains three awns/seed. Similar species: see Poa pratensis, Agrostis scabra and Setaria glauca (lutescens). Found in all fields.
