Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area

At over 23,000 acres, Carlos Avery Wildlife Managment Area is the largest public tract of land in the Twin Cities metro area. It is managed by the Minnesota DNR and contains forest, grasslands and wetlands that provide many opportunties for outdoor recreation. Different parts of the managment area are open to hiking, birdwatching, driving tours, hunting and trapping, and its many small lakes are a wonderful place to experience the spring and fall bird migrations!
